BlackBerry Priv pre-registration page confirms features

Note that a pre-registration is not the same as pre-ordering the device. A pre-registration page will not ask you for money to reserve the device. It simply allows people interested in the device to register for updates. Updates include  letting you know when the device will be available for pre-order via email. A few features revealed

Not only does the pre-registration page allow you to register your interest in the BlackBerry Priv, it also reveals some of the smartphone’s features. According to the page, the smartphone will rock a Schneider-Kreuznach rear-facing camera. Past reports claim that it will be an 18-megapixel sensor with OIS, while a recent report claims that it will be a Sony IMX230 21-megapixel sensor. As for the battery, the page confirms that it will have a capacity of 3,410 mAh. It also says that the screen will measure 5.4 inches. As for its resolution, we’ve heard that it will offer a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). It also mentions that the Priv will sport a physical QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the chassis as well as an on-screen keyboard. It reveals that an early warning DTEK system will be on board, warning users when their privacy has been compromised.

As for other specs, past reports have revealed that the Priv will sport a 5-megapixel front-facing camera is expected to be on board, which will be ideal for snapping selfies and video chat. nUnder the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor (four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz, two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz, and an Adreno 418 GPU to handle graphics), coupled with 3 GB of RAM. It is expected to run Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with BlackBerry 10 slapped on top, working as a custom UI.

With the BlackBerry Priv’s pre-registration page now live, when will the device be launched? The Android-powered slider is expected to hit shelves sometime in November. As for pricing, this remains a mystery, but it could cost around £390.
