The Sony Xperia U has now been released on pay monthly contract deals with T-Mobile in the UK, first launched on O2 offers last week this new addition to the Sony ‘NXT’ range joins the flagship Sony Xperia S, soon to be released Xperia P and recently announced Sony Xperia Sola from the manufacturers 2012 line up.
T-Mobile deals for the Sony Xperia U can now be ordered on contracts starting from £10.50 line rental and free Xperia U deals are available at just £15.50 per month, this is on the T-Mobile 300 tariff which provides unlimited SMS and 300 minutes but no inclusive data, we would recommend opting for a slightly more expensive package that includes data like those at £21 per month which can provide up to 1.5GB of data allowance.
The Xperia U is the ‘entry-level’ smart phone in the new range but this does not mean this is a sluggish handset, it runs on a dual-core 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and offers a 5 mega pixel camera, 8GB of memory, Wi-Fi, 3.5G support, GPS and access to the Sony Entertainment Network.
Boasting the smallest touch screen in the range at 3.5 inches makes the Sony Xperia U a very pocket friendly little phone, it offers the looks of the top-end Xperia S but with a budget price tag for those looking for style and functionality, uniquely though the Xperia U is the only phone from the new ‘NXT’ series that allows for physical personalisation by offering different coloured ‘end caps’ that can be replaced to suit a users mood, these include bight pink and yellow colours as well as the standard black and white options.
Comparable to the iPhone 4 in terms of speed and features the Xperia U finds competition from new models like the HTC One V and Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 in the budget smart phone sector, however Sony have added some extra features to make it a more attractive offering with its reality display powered by BRAVIA Engine, a camera that goes from sleep to capture in just over a second and records full HD video and 3D surround sound and xLoud music enhancement.
Shipped with the same Android 2.3 OS of the best-selling Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation XE the Xperia U has already been promised an update to the new Android 4.0 featured in the HTC One X, One S and One V sometime in the second quarter of this year.
