Samsung Galaxy S7 to go official in January?

According to more recent rumours, Samsung will launch its new flagship the Galaxy S7 in February of 2016. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge were released in April of 2015. So when will the Korean tech giant officially unveil its new flagship? A new report is saying that the S7 will make its official debut sooner than you think.

To be unveiled in January?

According to Korean-speaking ETNews, Samsung may have finalised the design of the Galaxy S7 in September, which means it is being prepped for mass production. It also says that the S7 may make its official debut on the 19th of January.

Additionally, the report says that the Samsung Galaxy S7 may be available in two variants  – “premium” and “sub-premium.” This suggests that the device will be available in a high-end and mid-range version. Unfortunately, that’s all she wrote at the moment. The only piece of information that was revealed was that the premium version will rock an Exynos processor made by Samsung, while the sub-premium version will feature a CPU made by either Qualcomm or MediaTek.

So far, past reports have revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will sport a USB Type-C port, which will allow users to enjoy more from no longer worrying about plugging in the cable the wrong way, faster charging, and faster data transfer. We’ve also learned that the S7 may feature different processors, depending on the market. S7s to be sold in Europe, Japan, and South Korea are said to rock the Samsung-made Exynos 8890 processor (code named M1 Mongoose). S7s to be sold in China and the United States are said to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU. S7s sold in India are said to sport the Exynos 7422 SoC, which is the same CPU found under the hood of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

As for the materials used on the S7’s construction, Samsung is said to be testing frames made out of magnesium alloy, which will allow the device to be stronger yet lighter. In the photography department, Samsung is said to be testing different prototypes, including a dual camera setup and a 20-megapixel ISOCELL camera sensor.

Of course, since this is anything but official, take it with a pinch of salt.
