Spy Footage of the Nokia E6-00 Emerges

If you have been a long time Symbian user, the news that Nokia might be discontinuing Symbian handsets such as the Nokia N8, E7, and C6 by 2012 may have saddened you. The mobile platform that you have grown accustomed to will soon come to an end. However, with the release of a few videos over the internet, many have questioned the news mentioned above to be accurate. There have been a number of videos that have leaked over the internet about a new Symbian handset. These videos are about the Nokia E6-00.

As early as March this year, there have been initial sightings of the smartphone on various websites over the World Wide Web. Then a few weeks later, more distinctive photos were posted on forums. Now, there was a video about the smartphone that emerged on YouTube. Although the video was quite blurry, it was enough to gather information about the Nokia handset.

This is what we do know. Obviously from the videos and images, the smartphone will come with a full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard coupled with document editor applications may indicate that the smartphone caters more to businessmen or career-oriented individuals. On the flip side, this may also be a smartphone built for social networks just like HTC’s new handsets. The keyboard will also allow you to make better use of IMs and social feeds, which will make the handset more competitive in certain niche markets.

The video revealed that the phone’s display will come with a resolution of 480 x 640 pixels, an 8 MP camera, and dual LED flash. With this camera, you can record videos in 720p. The smartphone is also an extended depth of field handset. It makes use of fixed focus instead of auto focus. The effect is keeping both foregrounds and backgrounds in focus.

There is no official announcement from Nokia when the handset will be released to the public or if it will ever be released. However, it does raise questions whether phasing out the Symbian 3 OS by 2012 is accurate at all.
