Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P monikers confirmed by leaked packaging?

We’ve learned that Google will be lifting the lid on the LG-made Nexus 5X smartphone and the Huawei-made Nexus 6P phablet on the 29th of September (less than a week away), but haven’t really come across proof showing the devices’ real names, until now. If the devices’ leaked packaging is to be believed, it would seem that “Nexus 5X” and “Nexus 6P” will be their final monikers.

Boxes dub thee “Nexus 5X” and “Nexus 6P”

A reliable source sent the images of the boxes to Android Police. Two boxes are shown (see above). One shows the “5X” name, while the other shows “6P.” Apart from confirming the Nexus devices’ names, the boxes also confirm that the two will be available in 32 GB versions. Past rumours have revealed that the Nexus 5X will be available in 16 GB and 32 GB versions, while the Nexus 6P will be available in 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB versions.

Previously leaked specs

Previous rumours reveal that the LG Nexus 5X will sport a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD). Its camera combo is said to consist of a 13-megapixel rear-facing with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and a 5-megapixel selfie-centric front-facing camera combo. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor with four ARM Cortex-A53, two ARM Cortex-A57 cores, and an Adreno 418 GPU, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. It is said to come with a 2,700 mAh battery. It is said to support Cat. 6 4G LTE connectivity. A fingerprint scanner is said to be found on the back of the device.

We’re hoping Huawei has resolved the Snapdragon 810’s overheating issues. To keep the lights on, the phablet is said to come with a 3,500 mAh battery. A fingerprint scanner is said to be found on the back of the device.

The two are expected to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), which is the latest version of Android.

Google has announced that it will be holding a media event on the 29th of September. The two are expected to be officially announced at the event. Pre-orders via Google Play are expected to kick off on the 13th of October.

AndroidPolice is responsible for leaking the press renders seen above. The said site was also responsible for leaking the renders that showed the colour options of the Huawei Nexus 6P phablet. It has also been busy leaking information on the two devices as of late.

The press renders reveal that the LG Nexus 5X will be available in the following colour options: white, black, and a mint blue-green colour option, which was by an Amazon listing to be called “Ice Blue.” This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the last colour, as a photo of device in the Ice Blue has been leaked before.

To recap, the LG Nexus 5X is expected to sport a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD). Its camera combo is said to consist of a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chat. In terms of storage space, the smartphone is expected to be available in 16 GB and 32 GB versions. Under the hood is expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808, which is a 64-bit hexa-core (six cores) processor (maximum clock speed of 1.8 GHz) with an Adreno 418 GPU, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. To keep the lights on, the smartphone is expected to feature a 2,700 mAh battery. The smartphone is also expected to sport the new USB Type-C port, which is reversible meaning users never have to worry about plugging in the microUSB the wrong way. Lastly, the Nexus 5X is said to feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It is expected to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box.

Google has announced that it will be hosting a press event on the 29th of September. LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6 (2015) to be put up for pre-order on Oct 13

We’ve learned from previous reports that Google will be lifting the lid on two new Nexus devices on the 29th of September. These include the Nexus 5X made by LG and the Nexus 6 (2015) made by Huawei. Now that we know when the search giant is planning to officially unveil the two devices, the question is, when will they be available for pre-order? According to a new report, they will be put up for pre-order on October.

Pre-order on the 13th of October

The new rumour comes to us courtesy of TalkAndroid. According to the report, the LG Nexus 5X smartphone and the Huawei Nexus 6 (2015) phablet will be available for pre-order on the 13th of October, which is two weeks after the device’s official announcement.

To recap, the LG Nexus 5X smartphone’s rumoured specs include a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Under the hood is expected to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor with four ARM Cortex-A53, two ARM Cortex-A57 cores, and an Adreno 418 GPU, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. In the camera department, the device is said to come with a 13-megapixel with OIS and 5-megapixel camera combo.

As for the Huawei Nexus 6 (2015), it is said to come with a 5.5-inch or a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Under the hood is expected to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2 GHz, four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, and an Adreno 430 GPU, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. There are reports that claim that the Google and Huawei are planning to swap the Snapdragon 810 for the Snapdragon 820, but we’re not sure if this is accurate since the later will not be available until the first quarter of 2016. Moving forward, other rumoured specs include 64 GB of internal storage and a 3,500 mAh battery to keep the device going for a long time.

Both device are expected to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. Like every other Nexus device, no custom UI like Samsung’s TouchWiz or HTC’s Sense will be slapped on top of Android. Both are also expected to come with a fingerprint scanner found on the back of the devices. If ever the two make their official debut on the 29th of September, this is the first time Google unveils two Nexus smartphones at the same in one year.

Of course, since this is anything but official, take this with a pinch of salt.

Tweet reveals LG-made smartphone leaked by TENAA is not the G4 Pro/Note but the “V10”

LG execs have confirmed that a new high-end smartphone would be unveiled towards the end of the year. This mystery smartphone is believed to be the LG G4 Pro; some believe that the device will be called the LG G4 Note. Recently, an unannounced handset was leaked on TENAA, the Chinese equivalent of the US FCC, which was believed to be the LG G4 Pro/Note. A tweet, however, is now saying that the name past reports have leaked was inaccurate. It reveals that LG may planning to call the device by a different name instead.

Not the LG G4 Pro/Note, but the LG V10

COASu-CWsAAdXAi

The tweet comes from serial leakster Evan Blass (popularly known as @evleaks on Twitter), who is known for leaking accurate information on yet to be announced devices. Blass points out that there is a “V10” logo printed on the back of the device, which suggests that this is the final name of the device – “LG V10.” This also suggests that the device pictured above will not be named the rumoured LG G4 Pro/Note.

TENAA usually leaks specs apart from images showing unannounced devices. In this case, however, specs were not mentioned. Fortunately for us, Blass says that the LG V10 will sport a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD), which is the same resolution offered by the 5.5-inch screen of the LG G4. He also says that the V10 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor with four ARM Cortex-A53, two ARM Cortex-A57 cores, and an Adreno 418 GPU, which is again the same processor of the LG G4. Other rumoured specs mentioned by Blass include a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 64 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and 3 GB of RAM.

Here’s where it gets more interesting. According to Blass, the LG V10 will sport a secondary screen. It is said to be located above the main screen, underneath speaker grill, and to right of what is believed to be the front-facing camera and front-facing flash.

So when will LG launch the LG V10? The phablet is expected to be released sometime in October. Pricing is yet to be determined, but we’re not expecting the device to be affordable, judging from the specs Blass leaked.

Of course, since this is anything but official, take this information with a pinch of salt.
