Google Nexus 5 goes through Bluetooth SIG

It seems we will soon see Google officially launch the Google Nexus 5, successor of the Google Nexus 4, as the device has gone through the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group).nexus-5-maybe-1

The device was spotted on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group website by PhoneArena. The site reports, “It looks like everything is on schedule if Google really is aiming for the rumored October 15th announcement of the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat. The device passed through the FCC last month, and now it has also passed through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), which puts the device one step closer to being ready for its official release.

“Given the wealth of leaks we’ve seen on the Nexus 5, there really isn’t anything new to be learned from the Bluetooth SIG filing. This filing is for the LG model D821, which is one that we have seen before when it passed through the FCC almost exactly one month ago. Still, the picture of the Nexus 5 is pretty clear these days.

“The device is expected to have a 4.95-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, choice of 16 or 32 GB of storage, a 2300mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera, a 1.2MP front camera, and LTE support (although Verizon LTE isn’t expected to be included.) The latest rumors put the announcement of the device at October 15th with the release somewhere before the end of the month.”

Report claims Google Nexus 5 shipping end of October – will have same specs as Apple iPhone 5S

A report is claiming that the Google Nexus 5, successor of the Google Nexus 4, will be officially unveiled and shipped at the end of October. The report also claims that the new Nexus will have the same specs as the Apple iPhone

TechRadar reports, “A source familiar with Google has told TechRadar that the much-anticipated Nexus 5 will be announced and shipped in the last week of October.

“The Nexus 4 upgrade will also be “half the price” of the iPhone 5S, which should make the Nexus 5 price land around £275 ($473 AUS, $446 US) and in line with Google’s low-price high-performance smartphone policy.

“Our source was referring to UK shipping though we fully expect the rest of the world to also be getting it soon after launch.”

Speaking about specs, the site says, “It’s likely we’ll see something similar to the the iPhone’s 64-bit A7 processor. Apple kicked off an arms race with the 64-bit processor announcement and no doubt Google and Samsung will follow suit. Even Samsung’s co-chief executive Shin Jong-kyun has said that Samsung’s next smartphones “will have 64-bit processing functionality”.

“If this is the case then we may see the Nexus 5 housing 4GB of RAM in an attempt to future-proof the device and create a desktop-like experience, although previous reports have suggested around 3GB – which is plenty.”

Google Nexus 5 Release Date and Spec Rumours

Rumour has it that Google’s upcoming Nexus phone the Nexus 5 could be released later this month, with some speculating as early as October 14th. Or it could be that it is launched ‘alongside the Nexus 10’ at the end of October as reported on by GSMArena.

With leaked images popping up all over the place of late it’s no wonder that rumours are rife as to what we can expect and when it will be released. Screen shots have already surfaced of Android 4.4 KitKat following its reveal last month so we suspect that the Nexus 5 will be running the latest version of Android straight out of the box.

Considering that Google have slashed the price of their Nexus 4 device , we can only assume that this is to make way for the imminent arrival of the new Google Nexus smart phone.

Google Nexus 5 Expectations

Live Photo: Nexus 5

Assumptions are that the next generation Google Android flagship phone may come with a 64-bit processor on board and 3GB if not 4GB of RAM, following in the footsteps of Apple with their release of the new iPhone 5S last month.

This would be the second of Google’s Nexus handsets to be made by LG, but LG’s concerns that it may detract attention away from the LG G2 sparked rumours that it may alternatively be manufactured by Motorola or even Asus as reported by TrustedReviews.  Regardless though, Google will undoubtedly be aspiring to create some healthy competition for the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The live photo which popped up on a MacRumours forum, and was spotted by the Verge, may give us an idea of what to expect.

Judging by what the Google Nexus 4 had to offer though, there are high hopes for the Nexus 5.  Various speculations and numerous reports suggest that the Nexus 5 will offer improved graphics performance, a bigger 3300mAh Li-Po battery, a more advanced 16 mega pixel camera accompanied by a better 2.1MP front facing camera, a larger 5″ full HD display and 4G LTE compatibility.

In terms of on board memory, it is thought that the Google Nexus 5 will be released in 16/32 and 64 GB variants and the 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU adorned by its predecessor will be replaced with a faster and more powerful 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.  Considering that the Nexus 4 came with NFC support and wireless charging option, we would expect these features to be amongst those on the Nexus 5 spec sheet.

For now though and with no official word from Google yet, it’s all still speculation and rumours but we will keep you posted so check back with us for the latest news and updates.

Best photo so far of Google Nexus 5 leaked

The best photo so far of the Google Nexus 5, successor of the Google Nexus 4, has been leaked on MacRumors, a site that usually caters to iOS devices such as the Apple iPhone 5S.

The photo was first spotted by The Verge. It reports, “A forum post on MacRumors offers what could be the clearest glimpse yet of the next Nexus phone. Nearly a month after a Google employee appeared in a promotional video for Android Kit Kat holding what appeared to be a new Nexus, a single close-up image of a slate-gray phone has emerged. In response to questions from other posters, the author said the phone’s back cover has a feel similar to the Nexus 7 and that its display is only “ok.”

Is the photo the real deal or is it a Photoshop job? The Verge notes, “Although it’s impossible to say definitively whether the image is genuine, it doesn’t bear the hallmarks of a Photoshop job and lines up quite well with what we have been expecting from the device. Assuming it’s real, we should be hearing more about Google’s next Nexus soon.”
