Sony rolls out Android 4.3 update to Wi-Fi XPERIA Tablet Z
Sony has rolled out the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update to the cellular version of the XPERIA Tablet Z, but left the Wi-Fi-only version in the dark. Now, the update has rolled out to Wi-Fi-only version as well.
XperiaBlog reports, “Sony had already released the Android 4.3 firmware update for the LTE version of the Xperia Tablet Z (SGP321), but owners of the Wi-Fi only Xperia Tablet Z (SGP311 and SGP312) were left waiting. We can now report that the update is now live for the Wi-Fi tablets, which updates the Xperia Tablet Z (SGP311/SGP312) to Android 4.3 with build number 10.4.B.0.577.”
Speaking about the changes included in the update, the site says, “The update brings a number of changes including a new home launcher (similar to the Xperia Z1), the Sony Smart Social camera, ‘Xperia Theme’ support, the ability to launch multiple Small Apps, Restricted Profiles for multi-users and a new version of battery STAMINA mode. However, we’re sad to see that the app shortcut on the top left of the screen has been removed – this was something we found very convenient for the most used apps. The update is only available through PC Companion or SUS (Sony Update Service), you won’t be able to download OTA (over-the-air).”
