G4Games reports, “The international version of the Sony Xperia Z1 f (let’s hope that it won’t be another “localized” version) will allegedly be announced during the Chinese New Year Festival, in early January. If we take a peak at the Chinese version of Sony’s official website, we can see that the manufacturer has something big prepared for January 3rd, so that might be the day when the Xperia Z1 Mini / Z1S becomes official.”
It adds, “Other than that, the same sources are claiming that the handset has been going, until recently, by the “i3″ codename and that it will be priced at 4099 Yuan – roughly 675 USD. Honestly, it’s more expensive than we would have expected, but prices can vary quite lot in different regions of the world, so in case the Xperia Z1S / Z1 Mini becomes available in the States or in Europe, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will come attached with the aforementioned price tag.”
Speaking about specs, the site says, “As far as the differences between the “normal” Xperia Z1 and its “Mini” version go, the Xperia Z1S will have a 4.3-inch (vs 5-inch) IPS (vs regulat TFT) display with a resolution of 720×1080 (as opposed to 1080×1920). The smaller version of the two will also feature a less powerful battery (2300mAh vs 3000mAh) and it will probably perform better thanks to its lower res screen.”
The Sony XPERIA Z1f has outsold the Apple iPhone 5S in Japan, according to previous reports. Since the handset is no pushover like other smaller flagship versions such as the HTC One Mini or Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, this is one compact smartphone we look forward to.
