Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P monikers confirmed by leaked packaging?
We’ve learned that Google will be lifting the lid on the LG-made Nexus 5X smartphone and the Huawei-made Nexus 6P phablet on the 29th of September (less than a week away), but haven’t really come across proof showing the devices’ real names, until now. If the devices’ leaked packaging is to be believed, it would seem that “Nexus 5X” and “Nexus 6P” will be their final monikers.
Boxes dub thee “Nexus 5X” and “Nexus 6P”
A reliable source sent the images of the boxes to Android Police. Two boxes are shown (see above). One shows the “5X” name, while the other shows “6P.” Apart from confirming the Nexus devices’ names, the boxes also confirm that the two will be available in 32 GB versions. Past rumours have revealed that the Nexus 5X will be available in 16 GB and 32 GB versions, while the Nexus 6P will be available in 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB versions.
Previously leaked specs
Previous rumours reveal that the LG Nexus 5X will sport a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD). Its camera combo is said to consist of a 13-megapixel rear-facing with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and a 5-megapixel selfie-centric front-facing camera combo. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor with four ARM Cortex-A53, two ARM Cortex-A57 cores, and an Adreno 418 GPU, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. It is said to come with a 2,700 mAh battery. It is said to support Cat. 6 4G LTE connectivity. A fingerprint scanner is said to be found on the back of the device.
As for the Huawei Nexus 6P, it is said to sport a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Its camera combo is said to consist of a 12-megapixel rear-facing and an 8-megapixel selfie-centric front-facing camera. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2 GHz, four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, and an Adreno 430 GPU, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. We’re hoping Huawei has resolved the Snapdragon 810’s overheating issues. To keep the lights on, the phablet is said to come with a 3,500 mAh battery. A fingerprint scanner is said to be found on the back of the device.
The two are expected to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), which is the latest version of Android.
