Is this the actual HTC A9?

Just the other day, a photo (see below) was posted online, claiming to be the rumoured HTC A9 (HTC Aero). It looked a lot like the Apple iPhone 6, and turned out to be nothing but a photoshopped image.

Although the photo above was nothing but a Photoshop job, it seems that person behind the render was given accurate information about the HTC A9, newly leaked photos of the rumoured device have confirmed.

HTC A9?

Romanian-speaking Mobilissimo.ro is responsible for the photoshopped image of the HTC A9. When the render was first posted online and proven to be a Photoshop job, we dismissed the render as nothing but a baseless rumour. However, if an alleged leaked photo (see above) of the A9 shown alongside the Apple iPhone 6 is genuine, the photoshopped image seems to have been accurate after all.

The newly leaked photo of the HTC A9 comes to us courtesy of Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo (the equivalent of Twitter in China). It shows a person holding the HTC A9 with one hand, with the other hands holding the iPhone 6. Of course, since nothing is official at this point, take the photo with a pinch of salt.

We’ve learned from past rumours that the HTC A9 is said to sport a 5.5-inch screen with 2.5 D curved glass, a groundbreaking new camera, a MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core (10 cores) processor under the hood, and 4 GB of RAM. The HTC A9 is rumoured to be constructed out of metal.

Past rumours have also revealed that the HTC A9 and the HTC O2 are two different devices. The HTC O2 is said to be the “Hero” phone Cher Wang, HTC’s CEO, mentioned, when trying appease disappointed investors, after HTC posted dismal earnings.According to reports, the HTC O2 will come with a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD), Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 820 CPU under the hood, and IP certification. Since the Snapdragon 820 will not be launched until Q1 2016, the HTC O2 isn’t expected until the first quarter of 2016 as well.
