Microsoft Lumia 950 CAD renders
The alleged CAD renders and video comes to courtesy of @OnLeaks, a Twitter account known for leaking information on yet to be unveiled mobile devices. @OnLeaks claims that the image above is the CAD render used by Microsoft to manufacture the unannounced device. These renders are also used by case manufacturers to make sure their cases fit devices like a glove. The renders also show that Microsoft’s logo will be embossed on the rear cover. Also found on the rear case is the PureView Zeiss label for the rear camera.
Past reports have revealed that the Microsoft Lumia 950 will sport a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). It is said to offer 32 GB of internal storage. If additional storage space is needed, it does come with a microSD card slot. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM. To keep the lights on, it is said to come with a 3,000 mAh battery.
Meanwhile, the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL phablet is said to sport a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Back to the Lumia 950 XL’s specs, it is said to offer 32 GB of internal storage. If additional storage space is needed, it does come with a microSD card slot. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. This is worrisome, as the said processor has caused overheating issues for other smartphones. To keep the lights on, it is said to come with a 3,300 mAh battery.
Both smartphone and phablet are expected to rock a 20-megapixel PureView rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing for snapping selfies and video chat.
Both devices are expected to be clad in polycarbonate (plastic). Although plastic may sound tacky, past high-end Lumia devices have proven that the use of a plastic can make the devices look and feel premium.
According to serial leakster Evan Blass in an earlier tweet, Microsoft will lift the lid on the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL on the 10th of October, a few days after the devices are expected to be unveiled. The software giant is expected to officially announce the two on the 6th of October in a press event in New York City.
