Leaked photo reveals Sony XPERIA Z5 and Z5 Compact will not sport USB Type-C
The unannounced Sony XPERIA Z5 and the Sony XPERIA Z5 Compact, Sony’s upcoming new flagship and its more compact yet just as powerful version, have been making the rounds in the rumour as of late. The first photo, showed the two with an Apple iPhone 6 in between them, and, at the same time, a fingerprint scanner on board. The second photo showed the smaller device on top of the larger smartphone. The third and latest photo shows the two side by side, which also reveals that there will be no USB Type-C on board. @ViziLeaks is the Twitter account responsible for leaking all of the photos mentioned, including the one found below.
Aside from showing that the two will make use of the regular microUSB connector, the photos also reveal that the two do not come with flaps that cover the ports. This suggests that the XPERIA Z5 and the XPERIA Z5 Compact will not be dust- or water-proof. mOn the flip-side, this could also mean that Sony will make use of the sma tech found on board the XPERIA M5, which is water-resistance even without the flaps covering the ports.
Sony will be hosting a keynote at the IFA trade show, which kicks off in Berlin, Germany on the 2nd of September. We’re hoping that the XPERIA Z5 and the XPERIA Z5 Compact make their official debut at the event.
