According to Android Developers, “Each snapshot of data represents all the devices that visited the Google Play Store in the prior 14 days.” It adds, “Data collected during a 14-day period ending on July 8, 2013.”

Android Developers’ figures reveal that Jelly Bean dominates at 37.9%. Gingerbread now trials behind at 34.1%. In third place is Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) at 23.3%.

Jelly Bean overtaking Gingerbread is due to the introduction of new handsets into the market such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One. These smartphones ship running Jelly Bean.
