Another report confirms dual-camera setup for Huawei P9

Back in October, a leaked photo (see below) showing labels suggested that the upcoming Huawei P9 would sport a dual-rear-facing camera setup. The labels had two cutouts for the rear-facing camera, suggesting that the P9 would feature a dual-camera setup. Now, a new report is re-confirming this rumour.

This is according to XiaomiToday. It reports that the Huawei P9 will feature a rear-facing dual-camera setup.

Apart from re-confirming that the Huawei P9 will feature a rear-facing dual-camera setup, the report also has more information to share about the unannounced device. According to the leak, the smartphone will feature a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen, with the possibility that its resolution will be 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Under the hood is said to be Huawei’s Kirin 950 SoC, which is an octa-core processor with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU to handle graphics, coupled with 4 GB of RAM.

One of the labels above says “LTE,” while the other says “DELUX.” This is an indication that Huawei is planning to release two versions of their new flagship. If these labels show the real deal, one will obviously support 4G LTE connectivity. As for the “DELUX” version, word on the street is that it will be a bigger version of the P9.

Word on the street is, the larger version will be called the “Huawei P9 Max.” It is said to feature a 6.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Under the hood is expected to be a Kirin 950 SoC, coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It is said to feature 64 GB of internal storage. Lastly, It is said to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box.

As for the Huawei P9’s rumoured launch, recent reports claimed that Huawei is planning to release its next flagship sometime in March, which is less than a year after the Chinese phone maker launched the Huawei P8. The P8 was launched in April of 2015.
