Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to be unveiled in September 3?

The insider claims that the Galaxy Note 4 will be unveiled a few days before IFA 2014 kicks off in Berlin, Germany. The insider adds that Samsung’s next phablet will sport a fingerprint scanner and heart rate sensor just like the Galaxy S5. As expected the device will come with an enhanced S Pen stylus.

Other rumoured specs include a 5.7-inch YOUM (three-sided) screen with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels (Quad HD) and a pixel density of 515ppi, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) tech, a Snapdragon 8005 quad-core processor, and 3GbB of RAM.

Video reveals Samsung Galaxy S5 Active

Samsung is yet to officially unveil the rumoured Galaxy S5 Active, follow-up to the tough as nails Galaxy S4 Active. Despite this a video on YouTube has spilled the beans on the rumoured device.

The man speaking in the video says that the S5 Active has a “very crisp display.” However, he also says that it is “not 1080p,” but something “above that.” It may sport a QHD (1440×2560 pixels) screen, but we’ll play it safe by taking this with a grain of salt. The Galaxy S5 Prime is also said to sport a QHD screen, and it’s likely that the Korean tech giant would reserve this feature for its more premium offering.

Hit play to watch the video.

If you take a look at the back of the device (pictured below), you’ll notice that there’s no fingerprint scanner.

The device shown in the video has the model number SM-G870A. In past reports, the “SM-G870” has been associated with the S5 Active. This variant also seems to be headed to AT&T, a US network operator.

The leaked photos come to courtesy of PhoneArena’s loyal reader, who claims that the rumoured smartphone is “undergoing testing.”

Aside from the device being clad in metal (specifically aluminium), rumoured specs include a 5.2-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with an Adreno 420 GPU (the regular S5 comes with a Snapdragon 801 with an Adreno 330 GPU), and 3GB of RAM (2GB of RAM on the regular S5). It will run Android 4.4.3 (KitKat) out of the box. Other notable changes include the speaker moved to the bottom of the rear casing.

Samsung is expected to launch the device in June to go up against the LG G3, which also sports a Quad HD screen.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play edition passes through Bluetooth SIG?

Earlier, we told you the SM-G906 (known as the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime) has passed through Bluetooth SIG for certification. Now, another Samsung-made device has gotten certification. It bears the model number “SM-G900FG,” and is believed to be the “Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play edition.”

If you’re not familiar with Google Play editions, these are flagships running Android in vanilla form. This means that there is no custom UI slapped on top of Android. In this case, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play edition does not have its TouchWiz UI slapped on top of KitKat.

Samsung is yet to announce the said smartphone, but since it has been listed in Bluetooth SIG’s database, we’re guessing it will be unveiled soon.
