Samsung Pixon vs LG Arena

Samsung Pixon vs LG Arena

The Samsung Pixon is a candy bar phone that is taller, thicker and heavier than the LG Arena. The Samsung Pixon’s façade is dominated by a large 3.2 inches WQVGA touch screen whereas you will find a 3 inch touch screen with superior WVGA resolution in the Arena.

The Samsung M8800 Pixon is not a smart phone, so it uses software that usually features in general handsets. The home screen is replete with widgets containing shortcuts to frequently used applications. The interface is colorful but there are no additional themes to choose from.

The LG Arena has a new high end S-Class interface which is intricate, touch responsive and visually appealing. The interface has 4 sections- widgets, shortcuts, contacts and multimedia placed on side of a cube that can be rolled with finger swipes.

The KM900 Arena has a 5 Mega pixel camera enabled with auto focus, image stabilization and geo tagging features. However the LED flash of the LG Arena’s camera struggles in dark environments. The picture details are not up to the mark though colors are vivid and clear. The M8800 Pixon’s 8 Mega pixel camera towers over the LG Arena’s camera with its line of powerful picture quality enhancing features.

These attributes include geo-tagging, auto-panorama shot, face, smile and blink detection and digital image stabilization. The camera also boasts of a fast focus that takes about 2 seconds during daytime and an immediate picture saving ability in one second. The Samsung Pixon has a photo browser gallery when images can be browsed and sorted by diverse parameters. This gallery is in addition to the file browser in the image folder

The Samsung Pixon’s music player is very touch responsive. It allows track sorting by album, genre and author. It features album art. It supports automatic and custom made play lists. Sound effects available include surround and dynamic effects and equalizers. It allows touch fast forwarding and rewinding. LG Arena’s audio player is equipped with Dolby digital technology and equalizers for high audio quality. It also has album art facet, a sort tracks by diverse parameters and also has a track search option.

The Samsung Pixon has an FM radio with RDS that features intuitive controls and music recognition feature. The LG Arena has a FM radio with inbuilt transmitter.

Both phones have touch-friendly video players that support XviD and DivX videos.

The LG Arena can record videos at 30 fps at a resolution of 720X480 pixels. LG Arena Slow motion QVGA clips can be recorded at 120 fps. It has a time lapse video capture attribute for fast videos. The Samsung Pixon possesses video recording ability in DVD resolution.

The LG Arena has 3G HSDPA, Wi Fi and EDGE technology to enable high speed internet. The Samsung Pixon has only 3G HSDPA for boosting internet speeds.

The Samsung Pixon is an entertainment phone while the LG Arena is more of an all rounder.
