LG G Watch spec sheet leaked – sports Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and more

Twitter account @upleaks has leaked the spec sheet of the LG G Watch, confirming a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor under the hood.

The spec sheet, however, reveals that the Snapdragon 400 processor under the bonnet of the G Watch smartwatch will be a different version of the processor for smartphones. Smartphones use the MSM8226 SoC. The wearable will sport the APQ8026 SoC. So what’s the difference between the two? The APQ8026 comes with an Adreno 220 GPU, while the MSM8226 comes with an Adreno 305 GPU. This makes sense, since the wearable sports a smaller 1.65-inch screen with fewer pixels (resolution of 280×280 pixels and pixel density of 240ppi).

Dimensions are 37.9×46.5x10mm and weighs in at 61g. Other specs include 4GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM, and a 400mAh battery.

LG confirms rear shell of LG G3 contains thing film of metal

When the LG G3 was still rumoured, reports claimed that its shell would be made of metal. Unfortunately, when it was unveiled it had a polycarbonate (plastic) rear case. It turns out, however, that its shell does contain metal.

LG confirmed this with PhoneArena. The site reports, “LG has confirmed for us that there’s more to the back panel of the LG G3 than a single material… get it? While most of the back cover is made of polycarbonate, it does feature a very, very thin film of real metal somewhere in there. It’s not on the surface, so you won’t be really touching metal, we’ve been assured that it’s in there, somewhere inside the polycarbonate, in the form of a very thin film.”

Unfortunately, the Korean phone maker did not confirm the use of this thin film of metal contained in the plastic shell.

LG G3 ‘Smart Keyboard’ adjusts and learns how you type

LG has recently officially unveiled its new flagship the LG G3, which is now available in South Korea and will be available in the UK on the 1st of July. One of the cool features the new smartphone has to offer is its “Smart Keyboard.”

According to LG, the Smart Keyboard on the LG G3 learns how you type. For example, if you usually hit the letter “S” when trying to hit the letter “A,” the keyboard will stretch the “A” key so that you don’t make the same mistake again.

You can also change the size of the keys, making them bigger or smaller. Furthermore, you can change the symbols on the side of the spacebar.

The LG G3 will be arriving in the UK on the 1st of August.

Features on board the LG G3 not found on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8)

The LG G3 has just made its debut. Unfortunately, it lacks the IP67 certification (water and dust proof) of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and aluminium case of the HTC One (M8). However, it makes up for these omissions with a number of features only it has to offer.

5.5-inch screen

If you’re looking for a smartphone with a large screen, the LG G3 is the phone you’ve been looking for. It sports a 5.5-inch screen, the biggest among all major flagships. By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1-inch screen, while the HTC One (M8) sports a 5-inch screen.

Quad HD resolution

Most major flagships sport screens with resolutions of 1080×1920 pixels (1080p). The LG G3 sports a Quad HD screen (1440×2560 pixels). This makes that handset the flagship with the sharpest screen in the market.

Laser autofocus

One of the features that the LG G3 has to offer that the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One (M8) do not is laser autofocus. According to LG, this allows the smartphone’s camera to focus on a subject faster than the competition. This, however, remains to be seen.

The LG G3’s camera sports optical image stabilisation or OIS+ that first made its debut on the LG G Pro 2. This allows the smartphone to record more fluid videos. Other smartphones rely on software.

The LG G3 will be available in the UK on the 1st of July.

LG Netherlands slipup confirms G3 will sport 2GB of RAM

LG Netherlands accidentally published the product page of the LG G3, when the Korean firm is yet to officially announce their new flagship.

A secret event in South Korea revealed that the G3 will sport 3GB of RAM. LG UK published the device’s specs sheet, revealing that the smartphone will sport 2GB of RAM. Unfortunately, LG Netherlands reconfirms that the G3 will sport 2GB of RAM and not 3GB of RAM.

Anyway, LG is expected to debut the G3 today in London, meaning we’ll soon find out if the handset sports 2GB of RAM or 3GB of RAM.
