HTC A9 (Aero) to rock MediaTek deca-core processor

When HTC lifted the lid on the HTC One M9, the device was expected to change the Taiwanese phone maker’s fortunes. Sadly, it did the opposite of what the company was hoping for, forcing HTC CEO Cher Wang to promise investors that they would release a “Hero” phone in October. Previous reports claimed that this device would be the “HTC Aero,” but we’ve learned recently that the Hero phone would be the “HTC O2,” a device with a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD), Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 820 CPU under the hood, and IP certification. Since the Snapdragon 820 will only be available in the first quarter of next year, the HTC O2 is said to launch in the same time period. This said, does this mean that HTC has killed the HTC Aero? According to a new report, the Aero will still see the light of day and that it will come with a deca-core processor under the hood.

HTC Aero to come with MediaTek deca-core processor under the hood?

The news comes to us courtesy of Chinese-speaking Mobile-Dad. The report claims that HTC is still planning to launch the HTC Aero and it will be launched as the “HTC A9.” It also claims that the Aero will have MediaTek’s Helio X20 CPU on board, which is said to have 10 individual cores (deca-core). It also said to feature 2.5 D curved glass.

The HTC A9 is also said to be offered in the following colour options – Tyrant Gold and Dark Grey. It is said to cost in the US around $470 (around £304) to $626 (around £405), with US network operator AT&T to be the first to offer the device to its customers. Lastly, the A9 is said to sport a groundbreaking rear-facing camera and will be clad in metal. Aside from the US, we’re guessing it will also be available in Taiwan, HTC’s home country. Sadly, we still don’t know whether the device will be available in the UK.

Sadly, that’s all she wrote at the moment, but we are sure to come across more information about the HTC A9 in the weeks to come. Stay tuned for further updates.

Some HTC One M9 units charge too long after update

Italian-speaking reports that some HTC One M9 units take too long to charge after updating to software version 1.40.401.8. Normally, it takes the device to fully charge its battery in 106 minutes, but the update causes the smartphones to fully charge its batteries in as long as 13 hours (screenshot below).

HTC UK acknowledged the bug on Twitter saying that “this is an issue that we’re aware of since the last update on the M9, if you uninstall the Google Photos application…” Unfortunately, it isn’t clear whether uninstalling Google Photos is the solution or if the app is the cause of the problem.

The good news is, there is a solution. Owners of the HTC One M9 experiencing the problem have to either turn off or restart their smartphones when the start charging. True, this isn’t at all convenient, but it’s an available workaround to the problem until HTC rolls out a fix via software update.

New report claims HTC Aero will come with Quad HD screen with 2.5D glass and Gorilla Glass 4 protection

It’s a fact that the HTC One M9, HTC’s current flagship is suffering from weak sales. This is why the Taiwanese phone maker was forced to cook up a new hero smartphone. It is expected to be officially unveiled in October. This rumoured hero phone is said to be known internally as the “HTC Aero.” A new report is saying that it will come with a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen with 2.5D glass and Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

This is according to Viet-speaking HTCVietnam. Recently, a report claimed that the Aero would sport a camera that features support for RAW files, and will come with an aperture of f/1.9. This will allows users to take high quality pictures even under less than optimal lighting conditions.

The new report says that the Aero would sport a screen of unknown size with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels with 2.5D glass and Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

Of course, since there’s no way for us to confirm if this is accurate or not, take this information with a pinch of salt.
