Samsung has confirmed when it will be lifting the lid on the hotly anticipated Galaxy S4.
On its Samsung Unpacked 2013 invitation, it tells us to get “Ready 4 The Show” and “Come and meet the next Galaxy”. This is a clear indication that we will get to see the Galaxy S4 on the event.
It looks like we should expect more Unpacked events after the unveiling of the S4. The invitation is titled “Samsung Unpacked 2013 Episode 1”. This suggests that there will be more devices scheduled to be unveiled this year.
So when will Samsung be lifting the lid on their new flagship? The invitation says that the event will be kicking off on the 14th of March in New York. A Samsung executive has confirmed with CNET News that this will be the event the Korean tech giant will use to launch the Galaxy S4.
So what should we expect from the Galaxy S4? It is said to sport an octa-core (eight cores) Exynos processor, an octa-core GPU, 2GB of RAM, a 4.99-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It is said to have Knox, a new security feature of Samsung, and will run Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean).
Samsung launched the Galaxy S3 on the 3rd of May 2012 and released the phone towards the end of that month. If the Korean firm launches the S4 on the 14th of March and releases it soon after, this would mean that the S3 would be obsolete in less than a year, which would make S3 owners very unhappy. It’s possible Samsung will release the S4 a few months after its unveiling.
