It appears that the popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S3 shows no sign of slowing down. Ever since it was launched back in May 2012, the Galaxy S3 has been one of the most popular smartphone models of all time. The current flagship Android phone from the South Korean manufacturer continues to clock up impressive sales, alongside its widespread critical acclaim and rave reviews.
Of course, the Galaxy S3 hit headlines shortly after its launch back in May, after it took just 100 days for the handset to sell its first 20 million units, a sales figure which is virtually unheard of with mobile phones. All this media attention, alongside its good reviews led to exponential growth in the popularity of the Galaxy S3.
In the UK, the Galaxy S3 is a particularly popular choice. In fact, according to uSwitch and its mobile tracker tool, the Galaxy S3 was the number one selling smartphone model in the UK throughout January 2013, despite the fact that it was launched nearly a year ago. The mobile tracker tool compiles sales data for smartphone models in the UK sold on pay monthly contracts, and displays a top 10 list ranking the phones by popularity. The Galaxy S3 took the number one spot, for the ninth consecutive month since its release. Samsung also took the number two and three sports, with its Galaxy Ace and Galaxy S2 models respectively. Somewhat surprisingly, the Apple iPhone 5 only managed to achieve seventh place on the list for January, despite the fact that the phone was originally touted as the biggest rival to date for the Galaxy S3.
While it is hardly a secret that Samsung is planning to launch a successor to the device in coming weeks, the Galaxy S4, sales of the Galaxy S3 are likely to remain strong. When the latest flagship is released, we are likely to see reductions in price on pay monthly contracts for the Galaxy S3, which will likely see continuing strong sales for the phone.
