Back in September 2012, the Apple iPhone 5 was launched and of course quickly became a bestseller as was widely predicted. In the days following its launch, millions of handsets were sold to eager customers.
However, in the weeks following the launch of the device, a number of problems were reported with some of its hardware and software features, and a high proportion of buyers were left somewhat disappointed with the apparent lack of innovation over its iPhone 4S predecessor.

Although the iPhone 5 of course includes many improvements over previous models, it appears that Apple is gearing up to launch yet another instalment of its once market leading iPhone series. Although Apple is yet to confirm the existence of the device, there are dozens of rumours circulating around the internet that an iPhone 5S is in the pipeline for a release in summer.
Such a phone would of course give Apple an opportunity to fix problems with the current model. An analyst at KGI Securities called Ming-Chi Kuo has reported on features which are likely to the incorporated on the iPhone 5S. These include the likes of a more powerful processor and LED flash, fingerprint sensor, updated version of the iOS platform and a heavily increased pixel count on the handset’s rear facing camera.
It has been reported that the iPhone 5S will feature a 13 megapixel Sony camera unit, showing a vast improvement over the 8 megapixel unit used on the iPhone 5. While this would be a welcome addition to the handset, it hardly comes as a surprise given the fact that devices like the Sony Xperia Z already sport such a camera, and a similar unit is rumoured to appear on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4.
Apple will certainly have to produce something special with the iPhone 5S if it is to retain the trust of its customer base, who will no doubt feel cheated that another iPhone model is launched so soon after the release of the iPhone 5.
