It looks like Samsung is planning to challenge the iPad mini, the smaller version of the iPad, if a report is to be believed. According to the report, the Korean tech giant’s new device will be an 8-inch version of the Galaxy Note 2.
The report comes to us courtesy of SamMobile, the site says, “SamMobile received new information about Samsung’s new upcoming Note device the GT-N5100. At the first place the Samsung GT-N5100 will come in 2 versions GT-N5100 3G / Wi-Fi version and the GT-N5110 Wi-Fi only version. The name of GT-N5100 will be the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. Samsung’s new upcoming Galaxy Note 8.0 will use a 8.0” 1280×800 TFT (Super Clear LCD) display, 5 megapixel back camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera, 2 GB RAM, 16/32 internal + Micro SD slot. The battery of the Galaxy Note 8.0 will be a 4600 Mah one. The Galaxy Note 8.0 will also have many ways of connectivity like Bluetooth version 4.0, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and A-GPS. The dimensions of the tablet will be 211.3×136.3×7.95 mm and the weight is around the 330g. Samsung’s new Note device will run on Android 4.2 called Jelly Bean.”
The site also says that Samsung is planning to launch the device MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2013, which will be kicking off in Barcelona in February.
