At this time of year the internet is packed with rumours about the next generation smartphones that are set to appear over the coming months. Already in 2013 we have seen leaked images of the new Sony Xperia Z hit the net and now it is Samsung’s turn. One leading site has published images which are reportedly the first official press shots for the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 device.

Thanks to the success of 2012′s Samsung Galaxy S3 the new Galaxy S4 is one of the most eagerly awaited models of this year but we are still a few months away from an official launch which looks likely to happen during the second quarter of the year. Despite us being so far away from some official news on this phone one tech site have published images that are said to be the first press shots of this new model. The site Sam Mobile posted the pictures yesterday and they were said to come from a source who works within the industry. The site commented “We can’t 100 per cent confirm if this is indeed the Galaxy S4 but the picture he sent us looks really sharp and doesn’t look fake at all” and we are inclined to agree. Many fake images tend to show drastic changes in design to capture the attention of the consumer but the picture in question here only offers subtle differences from previous Samsung handsets. The most obvious change is the lack of a Home key on the front of the phone which could suggest Samsung are running with a user interface that is completely gesture based. Alternatively they could be opting to use non physical keys such as can be found on other models like the Google Nexus 4.
The release schedule for the new Samsung Galaxy S4 is set to mirror its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy S3 with a May launch of the phone preceded by a grand unveiling in the weeks leading up to this date. The internet is currently full of rumours about this phone ranging from the ridiculous to the realistic. It is generally accepted that the handset will incorporate a new 5 inch display that uses Samsung’s very latest OLED technology. This should ensure that the screen on the phone is both thinner and more durable than ever before. Another key change is set to be the inclusion of a 13 mega pixel camera while the chipset will be boosted to enable the phone to offer the very best performance speeds, an area where Samsung handsets always excel.
The latest image to appear online of the Samsung Galaxy S4 looks very credible and we would not be surprised if it is a genuine shot of this new phone. As we edge closer to an official launch expect even more news on this eagerly anticipated handset.
