Consumer Purchases Stolen iPhone 5 As A Christmas Gift From Popular Site

The iPhone 5 is currently hot property and the device is selling by the shed load across the globe. One consumer discovered however that their new phone was a little hotter than they anticipated over the Christmas period after ordering the device form a very well known internet site.iphone 5

The consumer in question here is named Ben Dreyfuss and while searching for an iPhone 5 as a Christmas gift for his mother found a great deal on the popular Amazon Warehouse service. The phone arrived in time for Christmas Day as expected but what was not expected was that the model would be flagged as stolen when it came to activating the handset. Amazon Warehouse is similar to the main branch of the popular website although it deals with refurbished items at reduced prices. This makes it popular for high priced electronic goods such as the iPhone 5. Mr Dreyfuss is a Twitter user and he took to the micro blogging site on Christmas day to post “I bought my my Mom an iPhone for Christmas off Amazon and when she tried to activate it they told her it had been stolen”.

This episode is likely to have been a genuine mistake on Amazons side but there is no question that this story will concern thousands of consumers who have used the service to purchase an iPhone 5 or indeed any other smartphone. Amazon responded swiftly to Bens complaint and the phone has now been returned and replaced. If you happen to have purchased such a model from this outlet and want to run a quick check on the status of the phone its is a relatively quick task to do so. A call to your Network Provider will enable them to run the necessary checks to put your mind at rest. In the unlikely event that you phone does show as a stolen item and was purchased from Amazon contact the company via their web page by clicking the Contact Us link and then use the heading Stolen Item. This should push your enquiry a little further up the queue and get you a response much faster than normal.

We hope that this incident is the only one of its kind that we hear of but it is unlikely given the high value of handsets such as the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. If you do have concerns follow the procedures we have mentioned to put your mind at rest.
