9to5Mac spotted a report from Macotakara, saying that a next generation iPad is coming in March. So if you’re planning to get an iPad for the holiday season, it would be wise to save your pennies for now.
Like the current iPad, the new model is said to sport the same 9.7-inch retina display. However, it is said to be slimmer and lighter just like the iPad mini.
Speaking to Macotakara, a source said, “According to my inside source, iPad(5th) may be released in March, 2013. Source told that, design of this new iPad will be like iPad mini in detail, and be thinner and lightweight. (The expectation comes to have a small 4mm in height, 17mm in width, depth 2mm.)”
The report also says that the iPad mini 2 is in development. Unlike the current model, it is said to sport a retina display. Other reports have confirmed this. Unfortunately, this is all that was revealed about the smaller slate.
Is this rumour the real deal? Of course, since Apple is yet to confirm the device, take this with a pinch of salt. However, Macotakara has been right on the button in its previous leaks. Furthermore, Apple did release the previous iPad in March of this year. So it makes sense for Apple to release a new iPad in March of 2013.
