The Samsung Galaxy range of Android powered smartphones includes some of the most impressive and popular models currently on the market. The line up has been added to with a new device recently unveiled by Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Grand.
When you look at this phone, one of the first things you will notice is the large size of its touchscreen. This measures up at 5 inches, continuing the trend for larger screened smartphones. You may expect this phone to have a high definition display, but in fact it has a WVGA resolution, which indicates that the phone is likely to be offered at a much lower price point than premium models. The Samsung Galaxy Grand boasts plenty of impressive specifications, ranging from the 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 8 GB of internal storage (which can be expanded using the microSD slot), an 8 megapixel camera and even the latest version of the Android operating system, Jellybean v 4.1.2. Many of Samsung’s software features found in counterparts like the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are included, such as smart alert, direct call, S-Voice and multi window mode.
It is likely that the Samsung Galaxy Grand will be a popular smartphone, as it is likely to offer an affordable alternative to several recently launched phones with larger touch screens. For example, HTC has recently released several new devices which have 5 inch screens, but these are likely to be more expensive given their 1080p resolutions. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is also rumoured to sport a similar display to these HTC phones, but this will of course be a much more expensive handset.
Samsung has not released any details regarding the pricing, availability and distribution plans for the Samsung Galaxy Grand, but as soon as we hear of any developments we will be sure to keep you informed.
