Nokia Lumia 920 Comes Out Ahead In Independent List Of Best New Smartphones

Throughout 2012, there have been several prominent smartphones released. Of course, the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 have been the subject of most of the smartphone headlines, but recently the Nokia Lumia 920 has also been causing a lot of excitement.

This is the phone which Nokia has been somewhat pinning its hopes to turn the tables back in its favour after financial troubles hit the company. These were caused by the fact that the smartphone market has been largely dominated by Android and iOS in the last couple of years, leaving little room for Nokia to compete. However, now that more and more people are seeking alternatives to these platforms, the Lumia 920 is perfectly placed to take advantage of this with its Windows Phone 8 operating system from Microsoft.

The phone has quickly become extremely popular, with reports of sales exceeding 2.5 million units after less than a month on the market, coupled with retailers and networks in several countries reporting that they have sold out of Lumia 920 stocks.

Numerous technology websites and blogs have been singing the praises of the Lumia 920 since it was launched, but it appears that the latest flagship from the Finnish manufacturer has caught the attention of mainstream media. The Independent, one of the biggest newspapers in the UK has crowned the Nokia Lumia 920 as the best new smartphone in a list of ten competitors. This is made all the more impressive given the fact that the phone was awarded the number one spot against the likes of the Sony Xperia T, Apple iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and best selling Galaxy S3. It is easy to see why the phone has received so much critical acclaim and commercial successes in such a short space of time. Its spec list ticks all the boxes, with a 4.5 inch Nokia ClearBlack display, 8 megapixel PureView camera, the new Windows Phone 8 operating system and dual-core processor.

Because the phone is being advertised as part of a largely Microsoft-funded promotional campaign, we can expect to see much more of the Lumia 920 in the near future.
