Rumours Suggest A 5 Inch HD Screen On The Samsung Galaxy S4

Samsung has not officially announced that the Galaxy S4 even exists, but this has not stopped a number of rumours circulating around the internet, regarding potential features of the next instalment of the best selling Samsung Galaxy S line.

The current flagship model, the Galaxy S3 has been a real success story for the South Korea based manufacturer.  It took just 100 days for the Galaxy S3 to sell 20 million units, and Samsung recently announced that sales have topped over 30 million mark.  Because of the success of this device, big things are expected of its replacement, which is assumed to be called the Galaxy S4.

One of the first features to be subject to speculation about this phone is the touchscreen.  Samsung has been working on a 4.99 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080p, which would make it the first smartphone from Samsung to sport a screen with such a high resolution.  Such a screen also looks likely to appear on an upcoming Samsung phone, as HTC has recently released several phone’s with this feature.  These are the HTC J Butterfly in Japan, the HTC Droid DNA in the US and the upcoming HTC Deluxe internationally.  These phones also pose a threat to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which is currently dominating the ‘phablet’ market with very little competition. There have also been rumours regarding the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S4.  A 13 megapixel cameras had been rumoured, and this looks likely given the fact that a number of handsets on the market already boast this feature such as the Sony Xperia T and LG Optimus G.  Furthermore, Samsung recently stated on its website that its been working on a next generation 13 megapixel camera sensor.  Of course, such a high camera resolution would outdo the 8 megapixel camera found on the Apple iPhone 5, which is no doubt the main competitor to the current Galaxy S3 model.
