The Samsung Galaxy S4 is already being subject to numerous rumours despite the fact that Samsung is yet to acknowledge that the handset even exists. The device which is rumoured to be the follow up to the wildly popular Samsung Galaxy S3 has had plenty of speculation already regarding features which may grace the spec list.
It is easy to see why so many rumours have already started about the phone. The fact that the Galaxy S3 took just 100 days to sell 20 million units and 150 days to sell 30 million goes to show how popular this phone is, so the follow up device it is likely to pack even more impressive features.
One of the rumoured features of the Galaxy S4 is a 13 megapixel camera. It was originally intended for the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 to have 13 megapixel cameras, but because Sony (which manufactured the 13 megapixel camera units) had allocated the bulk of these to LG for its Optimus G, there were not enough for the Samsung phones. Therefore the South Korea based manufacturer had no choice but to use an 8 megapixel camera, the same resolution as thats used on the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S2. However, according to a post on Samsung’s website back in September, Samsung is already working on a 13 megapixel camera sensor to use on its 2013 smartphones and tablets.
Furthermore, because there are now a few smartphones on the market with this camera resolution like the LG Optimus and the Sony Xperia T, Samsung will surely be keen to compete with these phones in terms of their cameras.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is rumoured to be unveiled next year, with some rumours suggesting a launch at MWC 2013, although a separate event like that of the Galaxy S3 looks mire likely. We will keep you posted as we hear of any developments regarding the galaxy S4.
