Nokia Lumia 920 CLearBlack Display Superior To Galaxy S3 Screen In Direct Sunlight Test

Samsung’s Galaxy S3 is renowned for many of its features which contribute to making it the most popular smartphone on the market.  For example, it’s Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, like that of its predecessor the Galaxy S2 is renowned not only for its excellent display quality, but also the ability to maintain this display quality when is exposed to bright lighting levels.

Most smartphone models are unable to maintain the same level of display quality when the phone is subject to direct sunlight.  This is one of the real strengths of the Samsung Galaxy series thanks to the touchscreen technology that they employ.  The screens on most phones are either not bright enough to combat higher lighting levels, or they simply reflects light into the eyes of their users.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 was recently put to the test against the son to be launched Nokia Lumia 920 in a screen test to see which one offered the best display quality when exposed to bright light.

Surprisingly, the Nokia Lumia 920 came out on top.  The handset boasts Nokia’s trademark ClearBlack screen technology along with a feature which reads ambient light levels and uses the information to provide an LED brightness boost of up to 20%.  If you regularly use your phone outside and you are in the process of choosing your next smart phone, this test makes for interesting reading.

The Nokia Lumia 920 is due to be launched next month following the official unveiling of Windows Phone 8 (the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS) which is set to take place at the end of October.  The device promises to be among the most impressive from the Finnish manufacturer in recent years, and the hype leading up to its launch has already led to Italian and US retailers reporting sold out pre-order stocks of the phone.
