Apple is about to unveil the iPad mini tonight, but this hasn’t stopped the rumours from pouring in. Now, according to sources, Apple has scaled down smart covers down to size to fit the smaller version of the iPad.
According to 9to5Mac’s sources, the smaller smart covers will be called iPad mini Smart Cover. The sources add that the covers will be available in the colours blue, green, pink, light grey, dark grey, and red.
If 9to5Mac’s sources are to be believed, this would confirm what Apple plans on calling the smaller version of the iPad. Since the smaller covers will be called the iPad mini Smart Cover, then it will ultimately be called the iPad mini.
Although Apple has sent out invitations to media for an event that will be kicking off today (6pm in the UK), it still isn’t confirmed if the Cupertino firm will be unveiling a smaller iPad or not. The only clue that Apple has dropped is the text found on their invitation. It reads, “We’ve got a little more to show you.”
Back when Apple was about to unveil the iPhone 5, it left a hint on its invitation. The number ‘12’ (referring to the 12th of September) cast a shadow showing the number ‘5’, which gave us a clue that the iPhone 5 was coming. In the rumoured iPad mini’s invitation, the word ‘little’ was mentioned, suggesting a smaller iPad. However, we’re not a hundred per cent sure if this is a clue or not.
Despite Apple all but confirming the existence of the iPad mini, there have been countless leaks on the internet suggesting that the smaller version of the iPad is coming. We’ll just have to wait and see until Apple officially lifts the curtain on the rumoured device.
