On no, it seems another iPhone 5 flaw has surfaced. Now, owners are reporting their new kits are plagued with a flickering keyboard.
It seems problems affecting the new iPhone are piling up. The first bug that was discovered was the Apple Maps app that replaced Google Maps when iOS 6 rolled out. People were excited to finally try out the app, which quickly turned out to be a disaster. Apple CEO, Tim Cook, was forced to issue a public apology on Apple’s official website and recommend rival map services until the problem was fixed. The second issue was the iPhone 5 black’s susceptibility to scratches. Instead of owning up to the problem, the iPad maker instead called the issue “normal”. The third issue was the purple haze effect affecting photos taken from the new iPhone’s camera. Apple did not offer a solution. Instead, it advised owners to point the lens in a different angle, away from bright light. The fourth issue was a green glow emanating from the sides of the display once the phone is woken up from sleep. Apple has replaced the handsets of customers who have complained. Now, a new problem has emerged. Its keyboard has bug that causes it to flicker.
Apple is yet to issue an official statement about the problem. Fortunately, The Next Web has discovered the root cause of the problem.
Here’s a video of the keyboard glitch.
Apparently, the bug shows its ugly face once you are prompted to enter your Apple ID password, which is required when buying apps. This will cause the keyboard to appear broken and flicker erratically.
The reason behind the bug is a software flaw that occurs when the keyboard separates from the running app. Fortunately, a fix is coming.
On Apple’s support forums, a user that contacted Apple about the issue wrote, “Apple is aware of the issue & that they’re working on it. It will be patched in an upcoming iOS update. It’s confirmed to be a software issue. Why it only happens on some devices, she didn’t have details. The bottom line is that they’re working on it now & we will have a solution.”
