Google Maps not yet available for iOS 6

The new Apple Maps app turned out to be such a big mess once it rolled out with iOS 6 for iPhones, iPads, and iPods. This may want you to get the Google Maps app for the new version of iOS. Sadly, it seems Google doesn’t have plans, as of now, of releasing an iOS 6 version of Google Maps.

When Apple replaced Google Maps with its own mapping service, iOS users quickly spotted the bugs and demanded Apple to bring back the search giant’s maps. Google, however, is in no hurry to release Google Maps for iOS 6. Speaking to Reuters, Google chairman, Eric Schmidt, revealed that his company has not begun work on an iOS 6 Google Maps app.

Schmidt said, “We think it would have been better if they had kept ours. But what do I know?”

It seems Google is taking advantage of the Apple Maps mess. If potential buyers are put off with Apple Maps on the devices such as the iPhone 5, they may opt to get an Android device instead such as the Samsung Galaxy S3. It’s no surprise Google isn’t putting any effort into releasing Google Maps for iOS 6.

The new Apple Maps misspells places or simply do not show places where they ought to be. Although the Cupertino firm promises to fix the problem, the damage has been done. People getting lost or not getting the directions they need may be enough to make the switch to Android.

If you’re really bent on getting Google Maps for your iOS device, hackers are currently working on an app that will work on iOS 6. However, work is still ongoing with no word on when it will be ready. This means that you’re stuck with the bug-infested Apple Maps app until a working Google Maps hack is ready.
