Over the summer months the premium end of the smartphone market has been fairly quiet. The competition between several major handsets has been missing as the new Samsung Galaxy S3 has completely over shadowed all of its rivals. As the nights draw in and the temperatures outside drops things are hotting up a little in the phone world with the arrival of the iPhone 5, a major competitor to the S3. Just as we welcome the new Apple handset it seems that Samsung have reacted with a price decrease on their all conquering S3 model.

Recently we saw quite a sharp reduction in contract prices for the Samsung Galaxy S3 introduced by T Mobile and now another major network provider has followed suit. Orange have released a wide range of contracts that will all set the consumer back around £20 per month. Obviously with such a low monthly amount there is an initial cost attached to the phone but even this does not seem to hefty. The package that caught our eye is on the Panther platform and gives users a combination of 10 minutes worth of calls, 500MB of internet allowance and truly unlimited text messaging. This tidy package is just £20.50 per month with an initial phone cost of £89.99. When we take a look at such compare with earlier in the summer when the phone was launched they are much cheaper and well below what current iPhone 5 deals are offering.
Despite the arrival of the new iPhone the Samsung Galaxy S3 remains the most highly specified phone on the market. The recent price drop will no doubt push many consumer in the direction of Samsung rather than Apple. The model features a very high quality 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display and come with a variety of storage options, the smallest being an ample 16GB. The model stand out from the crowd thanks to some unique selling points that consumers will not find on other handsets at this moment in time. These include Samsung’s excellent S Voice software and the brilliant new S Bean data transfer platform.
The arrival of the iPhone 5 has spiced up the competition at the head of the smartphone table and consumer will benefit from the decreased price offers that we are currently witnessing.
