According to Pocketnow, Apple has only recently officially unveiled the iPhone 5 and it has now been jailbroken. It seems it didn’t take long for hackers to hack into the device.
Sadly, if you had plans of freeing your new iPhone from Apple’s restrictions, the official jailbreak for the iPhone 5 is not yet available. However, since hackers are getting more talented as we speak, we’re sure the jailbreak should be available sooner than you expect.
Grant Paul, a popular jialbreaker, posted an image on Twitter. The image shows the iPhone 5 running Cydia, which is an app that allows users to install customised interface and run apps not available in the App Store.
Speaking to AllThingsD, Paul said, “I started working on it the day before the iPhone was released, and I had my iPhone 4S jailbroken on iOS 6 in a few hours. Then, once I got an iPhone 5 it was even easier. It took just about half an hour from first tuning it on [sic] to a jailbroken iPhone 5.”
Although you may be tempted to jailbreak your iPhone, be warned. Jailbreaking will void your device’s warranty. It does, however, allow you to customise your iPhone’s appearance. It also allows you to install apps that are unavailable in the Apple App Store. If this is what you want, then go ahead and jailbreak your device. Just don’t tell Apple you’ve done so.
The Apple iPhone 5 is selling like hotcakes. The Cupertino firm sold out its pre-order stock in the first 24 hours the handset went on sale online. Despite the Apple Maps app mess, thousands still queued for hours just to get their hands on the new kit.
