Windows Phone 8 HTC 8X and 8S price revealed

HTC has recently unveiled their Windows Phone 8-powered handsets the 8X and the 8S. If you’re dying to know more on the phone’s price tags, they are set to compete against Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 handsets.

The HTC 8X is the Taiwanese firm’s high-end Windows Phone. It sports a 4.3-inch 720p display, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. It will be going up against the Nokia Lumia 920, the Finnish firm’s high-end handset. The 8X will set you back £400.

The HTC 8S sports a smaller 4-inch display, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1GHz dual-core processor. It will be going up against the Nokia Lumia 820. The 8S will set you back £225.

Unlike other HTC handsets such as the One X or Sensation XE, the 8X and 8S will not sport Beats headphones. They will instead sport Beats Audio technology.

Nokia is yet to announce prices. However, we’re expecting the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 to be similarly priced as the 8X and 8S.

Although price tags of the 8X and 8S have been announced, it didn’t come from HTC. The prices have been revealed by Expansys, an online retailer. It may be better to wait until November when Microsoft officially unveils Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Prices are subject to change until then.

Unlike the previous version of Windows Phone, Windows Phone 8 makes use of those colourful live tiles and now supports multi-cores. This means that Windows Phone 8-powered devices will no pack quite a punch, unlike in the past when they were restricted to single-core processors. This might just make the platform more attractive.
