For some time, there have been rumours about when this is going to happen. One of the latest rumours suggests that the update will appear at some point in October. Additionally, the phone’s predecessor, the popular Samsung Galaxy S2 is also set to receive the Jellybean update at some point in November. The Samsung Galaxy S3 was first rumoured to receive the update in September. While many people have chosen to use the unofficial leaked update, the official Samsung OTA update is now set to roll out in October.
The popular website Sammy Hub is responsible for the latest news regarding this update. This website is well known for providing reliable news on Samsung products. This websites displays information from the Samsung Sweden Facebook page, which has a list of Samsung handsets and the scheduled release dates for their respective software updates. At the moment, there are no precise dates when the Galaxy S3 will be receiving its Jellybean update, however this source lists the Galaxy S3 with an October/November update to Jellybean scheduled. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is also included on this list, and is shown with a scheduled for November update. Of course, we cannot vouch for the validity of this information but Sammy Hub has a well known reputation for providing reliable information Samsung products.
When the Samsung Galaxy S3 does eventually receive its Jellybean update, we will not see the same level of change as we did on the Galaxy S2 when it went from Gingerbread to ICS. The changes will be much more subtle in terms of the visual appearance of the user interface. Most of the changes made on account of the latest update will be in the form of performance enhancements, although noticeable differences are likely to include a new and improved notification menu, improved widget functionality and a more intuitive gallery application.
