Apple and Samsung have been locked in a fierce legal battle for several months after Apple has claimed that a number of its copyrights were infringed on certain Samsung smartphone and tablet products. Adding further to their rivalry, Samsung has recently produced an advertisement for its popular Galaxy S3, highlighting features which make it a superior smartphone to the iPhone 5.
Of course, both of these phones are impressive devices in their own right. However, the new ad portrays the Galaxy S3 as coming out ahead of the new iPhone in a number of ways. It lists a number of key features, with an explanation for each as to how the Galaxy S3 matches or outdoes the same features of the iPhone 5. For example, screen size is highlighted. Of course, the iPhone 5 has a new larger 4 inch screen, but the Galaxy S3 has a 4.8 inch display. Other areas where the Galaxy S3 is hinted to come out on top include the iPhone’s lack of expandable storage, as well as the fact that it has a standard microUSB connector, pointing out Apple’s controversial new lightning connector.
Samsung was recently ordered to pay Apple over $1 billion in the aforementioned legal case, so many see the creation of this ad as a swipe at the California based manufacturer. Of course, Apple fans quickly hit back with their own versions of the ad which were edited to of course make the iPhone 5 look like the better phone and discredit the original content of the ad.
Obviously there are serious undertones to the ad, but it should be viewed as a bit of fun, although it does raise some interesting points. The fact is though, that both of these phones are selling well. The Galaxy S3 was recently announced to have sold over 20 million units within its first hundred days on the market, whereas the iPhone 5 has already sold all of its pre-order stock.
