Rumours of the iPad mini have been circulating since the days of the original iPad down to the new iPad. However, Apple is yet to unveil the rumoured device. Now images of a purported mockup have surfaced on the internet.
Although we question whether the recent pictures leaked on the internet are authentic or not, they give us an idea on what the smaller iPad may look like.
Judging from the shots, this is not a working model but rather a mockup. The 7.85-inch tablet does not emit a backlight. Its display is likely to be a paper cutout.
The mockup looks similar to previous leaked images of the device’s cases. Previous leaks show a hole found on the top and on the center of the back plating.
Although the display looks like a paper cutout, the device’s bezel does look like previous leaks of the iPad mini.
Previous leaks also show two cameras. One is a rear-facing camera. The other is a front-facing camera that is somewhat off-centered. These cameras can also be seen in this mockup. Other features found on previous leaks that can also be found on this mockup include power buttons, volume controls, and a hold switch.
The iPad mini was once rumoured to be unveiled alongside the iPhone 5. However, only the new iPhone was launched on the 12th of September.
If this mockup as well as the previous leaks found on the internet is genuine, this may very well be the rumoured iPad mini. Although we’re unable to determine whether these leaks are the real deal or not, it gives us an idea on what the device will look like. It also gives us an idea on what to expect in Apple’s next event.
According to reports, the iPad mini will make its debut sometime in October.
