The Samsung Galaxy S3 will be the first mobile handset in the UK to be able to take advantage of the superb new Quicktap service which allows the phone to be used to complete purchases in designated retail outlets.
Finance institution Barclays have developed the new Quicktap service which is a new contactless payment service. The Samsung Galaxy S3 incorporates a Near Field Communication chip, or NFC for short. This enables data to be transferred very securely over very short distances. This has a number of advantages for the modern phone user including the simple transfer between devices of data and files. NFC is also used for Quicktap and effectively allows the phone to be used like a traditional debit card.
A large number of retail outlets and shops will support the new Quicktap service and these outlets will offer specially designed terminals where transaction can be made. These venues will be displaying a notice in their window so users know exactly where the service can be used. Once goods have been selected and scanned on the special terminal a simple tap of the phone will complete the purchase. Debit card details are stored on the phone and these are accessed to take the money from the users account immediately. Although Quicktap has featured on a handful of devices recently the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the first Android powered handset to boast the functionality. Orange users will be the first to be able to use this new service although it is expected to be rolled out across over networks over the coming months.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is an exceptional mobile device packed full of great features and the new Quicktap service is just one example of the great functionality that this flagship model can offer.
