Samsung Galaxy S3 ad takes a swing at iPhone 5

Samsung has taken swings at Apple since the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note, calling Apple fans sheep. After its loss to the Cupertino firm and being ordered by a jury to pay $1 billion in damages, it has launched an ad campaign for the Galaxy S3 while taking a swing at the iPhone 5.

The ad’s tagline reads, “It doesn’t take a genius.” Underneath the tagline are the specs of the two rival handsets. Of course, Samsung doesn’t include all of the iPhone’s specs, but puts a lot of the S3’s features.

It launched another ad found in The New York Times. The ad reads, “On Sept 12th the next big thing was revealed.” Underneath the tagline is a picture of the Galaxy S3, followed by, “The Next Big Thing is Already Here.”

It’s pretty obvious that this is a case of sour grapes from Samsung. The Korean firm must be really peeved the jury ordered it to pay Apple $1 billion in damages for trademark infringement, while all of its claims were given the cold shoulder. Although what they’re feeling is understandable, we’re not sure if this move will win the sympathy from the consumer. It may even affect the sales of their handsets.

Apple has sold out its available pre-order stock of the iPhone 5, which may make it the most successful iDevice to date. Although the new iPhone is selling like hotcakes, the Galaxy S3 is not at all struggling. It has shipped 20 million units of its flagship after being in the market for just 100 days. Samsung should just focus on making their devices even better, rather than taking a swing at its nemesis.
