Invite hints LG unveiling Optimus G on the 19th of September

It looks like LG is planning to unveil another superphone other than the Optimus 4X HD. It’s possible that this will be the unveiling of the Optimus G, which is said to give the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 a run for its money when it comes to processing power.

LG and Qualcomm’s invite reads, “LG and Qualcomm invite you to live without boundaries”, suggesting a new superphone will be unveiled. The event will be kicking off in New York on the 19th of September.

Judging from the invitation, the upcoming device will sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. The Optimus G sports the powerful 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, which supports LTE.

The superphone sports a 4.7-inch display with 320ppi. This is just a few pixel counts of the iPhone’s 326ppi. It also comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera that can be programmed to snap a shot when a specific word is said. The feature is called Cheese Mode.

Since the Optimus G is a 4G device, we initially thought that it was not landing in the UK. However, since EE will be dishing out its 4GEE network before the end of the year, it’s possible that the network will be offering the handset as a network exclusive.

During the same day, HTC will also be unveiling its Windows Phone 8-powered devices. Samsung was first to unveil its WP8 device, the Ativ S. Nokia was second with the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920. It’s possible that LG will do the same on its upcoming event, but we’re betting it’s the Optimus G.

Do you think LG will unveil their highly anticipated superphone the Optimus G? Will the superphone give handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5 a run for its money? Share your thoughts through a comment on our Facebook page.
