Sony Xperia S Price & Release Date UK
The new Sony Xperia S has now been given a price and release date in the UK, this is the first smart phone to bear just the Sony brand name after they dropped Ericsson from their future naming process and is set to be the most advanced phone from the manufacturer to date.
The Sony Xperia S release date has been set for March 6th as a SIM free and unlocked phone from a number of UK retailers, that said it is likely that one of the main network operators might secure stocks before this time for an exclusive launch period on contract deals, the initial Xperia S price has been set at £429.99.
The new Sony Xperia S is set to take over from the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S as the manufacturers top end smart phone running on a dual core 1.5GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and offers a mighty 32GB internal memory, the main touch screen is a good sized 4.3 inch LED backlit display with BRAVIA engine enhanced graphics and a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution which means 720p HD playback is possible for watching films and video clips.
The camera is one of the3 most advanced on the market with Sony’s Exmor R for mobile CMOS sensor and a 12.1 mega pixel lens which can capture full HD 1080p video and can snap pictures from standby in just 1.5 seconds, there’s also a secondary camera on the front of the phone for video calling at 720p HD, other Sony enhancements include xLoud technology and TrackID on the music player plus the Sony Xperia S is Playstation certified for avid gamers.
Running the Android gingerbread 2.3 operating system, Sony has already confirmed that this new phone will get an update to the new 4.0 ice cream sandwich instalment in Q2 2012 which is only currently available on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, this new update includes advanced NFC technology with smart tags, Google+ integration and voice typing.
Connectivity is gained from Wi-Fi, fast 3.5G network support as well as GPS with satellite navigation and Bluetooth plus it can be connected to an HD TV via HDMI cable for sharing pictures and video with friends on the big screen.
Going up against other top Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation XE plus the obvious iPhone 4S (although an iPhone 5 is expected early this year) the new Sony Xperia S looks to not only matched the competition but beaten it in many areas.
