Samsung confirms Galaxy S3 not making an appearance at MWC
If you’re expecting to see the Galaxy S2’s successor the Galaxy S3 at Mobile World Congress, don’t get your hopes up. The Korean tech giant has confirmed with CNET UK that the highly anticipated S3 will not be unveiled at MWC in Barcelona towards the end of the month. The question is, when do we get to see the S3?
It looks like the Korean tech giant is following Apple’s footsteps in terms of unveiling new products. Samsung will instead unveil the S3 at its own event, like what Apple did with its products such as the iPhone 4S.
Samsung told CNET UK, “Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012.
“The successor to the Galaxy S2 smart phone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”
The news may be disheartening, but there’s a good reason Samsung chose to do this. There will be a host of new handsets unveiled at MWC. If Samsung were to unveil the S3 at the event, the S3 might not get the attention it deserves.
Samsung also said that the S3 would be unveiled “closer to commercial availability of the product”. Does this mean the S3 would be available soon after its official announcement? We sure hope so.
