IBM / HTC team-up targets enterprise market

HTC is renowned for its Android handsets such as the Sensation XL and Sensation XE. Now, the Taiwanese phone manufacturer has its eye on the enterprise market wherein Blackberry handsets and iPhones are popular. HTC has teamed up with IMB, in the hopes of making Android more attractive to business folk.

IBM has developed a number of business applications, which is set to run on smartphones and tablets made by HTC. Although exclusive to HTC for now, it’s likely that IBM will make these applications available to other Android manufacturers.

Not only is the iPad more popular compared to Android tablets in terms of personal use, it is also more popular in the workplace. With this new partnership between HTC and IBM, Android tablets now have to potential to penetrate the business sector.

Although the iPad is still more popular compared to Android tablets in the enterprise market, it still does not offer a level of customisation businesses prefer. HTC, on the other hand, will offer more options for customisation, which allows businesses to create an experience appropriate to their needs.

With its new partnership with IBM, HTC has the potential to be successful in the enterprise market, which is the first time the company took this route.
