Smartphones expected at Mobile World Congress 2012
2011 was a momentous year for mobile. Last year, handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S2, the iPhone 4S, the Nokia Lumia 800, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus took center stage.
At CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2012, we got to see what mobile technology had to offer this year. Phones worth mentioning are the Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia’s high-end Windows Phone, the Huawei Ascend P1 S, the world’s thinnest smartphone, and the Sony XPERIA S, one of Sony’s first dual-core phones and one of the first to drop the Ericsson branding. Apparently, this was just the tip of the iceberg. Wait until you hear about the smartphones expected to make an appearance at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2012.
Samsung is expected to unveil the much awaited Galaxy S3 at the event in Barcelona. According to rumors, the smartphone will sport a 3D display and a 2 GHz dual-core processor. Since the S2 was one of the most desired smartphones in 2011, expectations are definitely high.
Back at CES, Sony unveiled the XPERIA S, which is likely to be the Sony flagship. It was known as the Nozomi in the past. However, what about the Nypon? It’s likely this rumored smartphone will feature something new from the Japanese tech giant.
At the beginning of 2011, the Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC started strong. However, it reported losses towards the end of last year. According to rumors, HTC plans to get back on track with its superphones the dual-core HTC Ville and the quad-core HTC Edge.
It looks like Nokia will be spearheading the rise of the Windows Phone platform. It is said that the Nokia Champagne will make an appearance at MWC.
