Apple’s Reuse and Recycle program lets you trade your old gadgets for cash
If you’re concerned about saving the environment, Apple has the perfect scheme for you. the Cupertino firm’s Reuse and Recycle program lets you trade in your old iPod, Mac, iPhone, iPad, mobile phone (by any manufacturer), laptop (Windows), or desktop (Windows) for cash. The cash will be paid to your bank account postage-free.
Apple’s recycling program is not new. It first ran in the US in 2006. If you’re looking to recycle your old device in the UK, you can now make use of this service by heading over to Apple’s Reuse and Recycle page and provide the details of your old device. Once all of Apple’s questions are answered, they will offer to buy the unwanted device.
If you’re out of your mind and would like to recycle your brand new iPhone 4S complete with cable, Apple will pay you as much as £423. However, not all smartphones go for this much. With an iPhone 4 in perfect condition, Apple will pay you £177. With an iPhone 3G in pristine condition, Apple will pay you a paltry £6.23. Obviously the price goes up according to model and condition, but don’t expect too much for the device.
Although you won’t get the price you want for your unwanted device, it’s better than just throwing it out in the trash. Not only do you get to clear your place of junk, you also do your part in saving the environment.
