The Motorola Defy+ JCB limited edition is a tough handset for builders

If you’re an engineer, builder, or work in rough conditions, it might not be a great idea bringing along an Apple iPhone 4S or a Nokia Lumia 800 to the work site. The Samsung Galaxy S2 with its Gorilla Glass protection might withstand the elements, but for how long? If you’re looking for a tough Android handset, Motorola has unveiled a tougher version of the Defy+. This is the Motorola Defy+ JCB limited edition.

Like the Defy+, the JCB version sports a 3.7 inch display protected by Gorilla Glass, a 5 megapixel camera, a 1 GHz single-core processor, and 512 MB of RAM. It ships running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It is also water-resistant, dust-proof, and scratch-resistant. The difference between the two is a “patented visco-elastic protective sleeve with re-entrant geometry”. This adds shock protection to the handset.

Aside from the protection, the handset also comes with apps from JCB. These include a decibel meter, decibel recorder, spirit level, and a unit converter. Also included is shop locator, specifically, shops that have various parts in stock.

The Motorola Defy+ JCB limited edition is available in the UK for £260.
