Leak suggest Sony working on their own Windows Phone
Most Android manufacturers also have Windows Phone handsets in their lineup. These include Samsung (Omnia W), HTC (Titan), and LG (Optimus 7). Since all the big names have their own version of Windows Phones, whatever happened to Sony? According to a leak, Sony is working on a smartphone powered by the Windows Phone platform. It looks like the Nokia Lumia 800 will be facing another competitor.
Pictures of the Sony Windows Phone prototype have been posted on the blog site NokiaWP.net. A Windows button can be found on the bottom of the handset, plus it’s labeled “prototype-not for sale”. If not a hoax, this will the first Windows Phone made by Sony.
Although the shots have been posted recently, the phone still bears the Sony Ericsson branding. This suggests that the company was working on the handset before Sony decided to buy Ericsson’s other half of the partnership for 1 billion.
If ever Sony is planning to launch a Windows Phone, it’s likely to make an appearance at MWC (Mobile World Congress) in February. Or, this could be a prototype, which never sees the light of day.
Do you find a Sony Windows Phone interesting, or do you think they should just stick with Android? Give us your thoughts.
