Orange confirmed to be selling Sony XPERIA S

It seems that more and more network operators in the UK are getting into the Sony XPERIA S action. Now, Orange has confirmed that they would be selling the new smartphone officially unveiled at CES 2012, which is one of two handsets to drop the Ericsson moniker from its branding.

The other handset to drop the Ericsson brand is the XPERIA Ion. Sadly, this handset will not be making it to the UK since it supports 4G networks, which is yet to be available in the UK.

The first two networks to confirm that they would be selling the handset are Three and O2. Now, Orange has been added to the list. Despite confirming the smartphone would be landing on their shelves, they failed to mention when it would be arriving or its price tag.

The XPERIA S, formerly known as the Arc HD and Nozomi, comes with pretty impressive specs. It sports a 4.3 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It rocks a whopping 12 megapixel camera that can record videos in 1080p (full HD). It also sports a 1.3 megapixel secondary camera for video calls, which can record videos in 720p. Multi-media stored on the smartphone can be viewed on a larger screen via an HDMI port. Lastly, it packs a powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260 processor Snapdragon chipset, just like the processor found on the HTC Sensation XE.
